God: The Rescuer, Redeemer, & Savior
This class aims to deepen our understanding of how God’s mercy transforms us into people who recognize and respond to other people’s needs. From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible illustrates God’s heart for a weak and needy human race. God’s mercy helps us overcome our own weaknesses, understand how God calls us to partner with him to meet other people’s needs, and use our gifts and talents to serve him in our careers, families, and communities.

God is love (1 John 4:16). God is not simply a loving being. God’s nature and being is literally love. Perhaps one of the greatest gifts you could gain from this class is to recognize God’s mercy in your life and consider how deeply he loves you and every other person he created. Our faith is in a God who is the champion for the underdog, rescuer to the oppressed, redeemer of lost causes, savior for those who are perishing. He is worthy of worship. It is his story that we study when we open the Bible.

The book, His Mercy: God’s Heart for People in Need, provides six weeks (42 days) of daily devotionals that explore teachings from Genesis to Revelation describing God’s mercy—his concern for people in need. We invite you to read the book and join this class on a journey to explore how we can better understand God’s love for us and then partner with God to express his love for people.
